Bashar Matti holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the University of Oregon. Bashar studied with professor Fritz Gearhart and longtime teacher and mentor Kathryn Luchtenberg. Prior to moving to Eugene, Oregon, Bashar attended the Jordanian Conservatory and the University of Baghdad.
Bashar is a current member of theOregon Mozart Players, Eugene Concert Choir Orchestra and a violin substitute for Eugene Symphony Orchestra . While studying at the University of Oregon, Bashar has had the honor of playing in various master classes for musicians such as Jaap Schroder, Rachel Barton Pine, and members of the Oregon Symphony. His international music experience includes playing with the Iraqi and Jordanian symphony orchestras, as well as teaching, assisting, and performing chamber music in the “Healing Through Music” festival in Amman, Jordan. The festival featured talented Iraqi, Jordanian and Syrian performers. Bashar also attended Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont for two consecutive years from 2012–2013.
Outside of music, Bashar is a multi-linguist fluent in English, Arabic, and Aramaic (Chaldean). In his free time, he enjoys walking, soccer, hiking, and traveling.
